About Us

The Rock's logo was designed by Sr. Vice President, Jerry Royce Live, while he was studing graphic designs at Catonsville Community College (known today as Community College of Baltimore County Maryland (CCBCMD). "I was working on a magazine cover and a logo for my class project and little did I know that my parents would be interested in starting Talbot County's first Black news and entertainment publication from my class project... I was very excited about the idea," says Jerry. The rest is history!

Our Story

Royce Sampson says, "Being in business with my family was very important to me... I wanted to build a legacy and have something for my grandchildren to be proud of ... we made history in Talbot County, and you can see our publication at the Rural Life Museum".

Our Vision

I always envision us going really deep with this business model... we had no idea that an invention like the Internet would globalize us. Our digital magazine has been read by people all over the world, and we are planning to introduce podcasting to the mix 2013-2014. We are producing quality programming for Internet radio," says Jerry Royce.

"We made history in Talbot County ... we were the first Black news and entertainment publisher  ..."

TESTIMONIALS

"I am so proud of my family... I grew up in Baltimore City's east-side,  and I wanted to learn more about my grandmother's family ... be part of their great eastern shore heritage ... The Rock gave us that feeling and closeness," says Karen

"My family worked very hard to to maintain this site... they put in the time and made this an unbelieveble journey for all of us," says Sophia.
